Clarity Ventures Partners with Optometrist Provider The Newton Group

Better Deals For Independent Eyecare Centers

Austin, TX — September 18, 2012 — Clarity Ventures has announced the launch of a website for its newest partner, The Newton Group. The Newton Group is a buying group serving hundreds of eyecare centers across America, giving them a means to collectively negotiate better prices on frames, lenses, solutions, cases, and medical equipment. 

“Buying groups can be an excellent resource for small businesses in any industry, and growth of The Newton Group proves just how beneficial these savings can be,” said Ron Halversen, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Clarity Ventures. “The Newton Group’s new site is a win-win situation for the company itself and its customers. TNG has been able to increase its business exponentially, and those in the buying group can save money.” 

Buying group members also have the advantage of reducing the number of invoices coming in, because their entire inventory usually ends up coming from TNG. That means one invoice to deal with instead of perhaps a dozen from multiple contact lens manufacturers and frame providers. 

Previous iterations of The Newton Group’s ERP platform were manually based and labor-intensive for its fulfillment team, relying primarily on phone calls and fax orders. Clarity President and CEO Chris Reddick described some of the challenges for the project. “We successfully completed an integration to an internal ERP system that was completely custom. In fact, the original ERP vendor had gone out of business. We worked with TNG’s internal team and built out a flat file based integration and FTP capability so that their team could upload and download flat files securely.” 

Clarity also created a role-based system where administrators from different member locations can manage roles and access of employees within their organization. This means that someone from a branch can order equipment, but the order needs to be approved by someone from the corporate office. This also allows branches to see their own accounts without having access to the accounts of other branches.
