One of the many products that Merck manufactures is the micro-chip for pets. These chips provide a number of benefits, including tracking your pet, as well as being able to encode the chip to pet feeders and pet doors. This prevents any animal from entering your home through the pet door or stealing their food, unless the embedded micro-chip is within range (at the door or feeder). This website is used as an ordering portal for pet owners, as well as clinics and veteranarians to order chips in bulk. Merck also was facing an upcoming payment standard deprecation that meant the site couldn't take credit card payments. Due to the many different types of clients they had, they needed a new UX that could handle the many different needs of all their customers, and a technology refresh to the latest standards. The biggest issue was their short two-month timeframe.
The site was done quickly and replaced the old site with no interuption in service. This meant that there was no lull in their ability to take online credit card orders from their existing clientele. With the introduction of the Clarity eCommerce platform, we were able to customize and extend new UX enhancements to help improve the user experience, as well as provide a platform designed for future growth and customizations surrounding custom memberships and integrated marketing efforts.
Clarity started with the client's existing design, porting it to a new up-to-date HTML5, bootstrap responsive template, and applying that to our Clarity eCommerce platform and DNN Evoq (for the CMS). HTML5, CSS3, jQuery, Angular.JS, Telerik and Bootstrap round out the technology stack used for this site.
