It’s time for another installment of, “Something rad that Clarity has done!” Today’s project is brought to you by one of our back-end developers and by a really cool organization called the Peace of Mind Foundation, which provides education and treatment options for people who have Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. What the Peace of Mind Foundation Needed The Peace of Mind Foundation came to Clarity in need of a website for their OCD Challenge initiative. They envisioned a website that would provide an interactive, online community-oriented approach to working through Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Unfortunately, when they went to another vendor with their needs, they had a lot of trouble getting the website to work exactly how they wanted it to. Enter Clarity. When we took over the project, we spent a thorough amount of time assessing the website and getting a good feel for what the Peace of Mind Foundation wanted from the site. We also tested the existing site, making notes of places where the UX was lacking or the functionality wasn’t working. After working with the staff of the OCD Challenge to verify that we were on the right track, we embarked on a project that would help them get better information out of their current system than they were getting before. Technologies Used This was primarily a back-end development project, meaning we were mostly focused on functionality. We built off of the Visual Basic code that the website had originally used, extending it or rewriting specific pieces as it made sense to do so. We enhanced the functionality of everything from online questionnaires to virtual tour videos that automatically play. To take the site worldwide, we also built multilingual functionality that would quickly translate the information between English, Spanish, and Norwegian. So, How’d it All Work Out? The OCD Challenge’s website how has the ability to help thousands more people who are struggling with OCD. Best of all, the team at the OCD Challenge now has a site that they can truly rely on as they move forward with their important work. We’re thrilled to have been part of the process!
