The Best in Fuzzy Search Has Been Added To Clarity’s CEF Platform

Austin, TX — November 22, 2016 — Clarity has once again improved its proprietary CEF platform by adding Elasticsearch, a top-tier fuzzy logic search software. 

For more than 10 years, Clarity has been designing and building web portals and mobile apps. An important element of those sites is a search tool. Clarity has typically used SearchBoost and Lucene Search, but recently, prompted by an enterprise account, has made the decision to upgrade to an industry gold standard in search tools: Elasticsearch.  

"This is a big upgrade for us," said Ron Halversen, VP of Sales and Marketing. "Elasticsearch comes out of the box with over 100 custom features. A big one — besides the predictive auto-fill — is the fuzzy logic matching. Even if a visitor misspells a word, Elastic serves up recommendations that are close to that spelling. This has been extremely beneficial for our clients, especially when we add in multilingual websites."  

As Clarity eCommerce moves more and more into heavily customized and enterprise deployments, upgrades to technologies are an important and key element to its platform's success. “Elasticsearch is a very powerful eCommerce framework for enabling fuzzy search and provides an exponential level of search logic that, in a SQL-based database, would typically be very non-performant,” said Chris Reddick, President and CEO of Clarity Ventures. “So we now have the ability to deal with hundreds of thousands — even millions — of products with no performance degradation.” 

Using Elasticsearch allows Clarity clients to apply hundreds of filters per product and have intelligence around which filters should show higher on the filtering grid. It is also flexible and smart enough to intelligently index the products based on when the data changes. Elasticsearch can also be implemented with real-time inventory data from other sources in order to give the most accurate representation possible. “The customer is seeing real-time inventory and pricing,” said Reddick. “The efficiency of Elasticsearch’s cache allows us to optimize site performance while still using the most up-to-the-minute inventory data available.”
