Understanding What Google is Trying to do

What SEO Strategies are There?

There are a lot of moving parts when it comes to SEO. Having a basic understanding of all of them, help you stay on the right track and not waste a lot of time doing what you think is right, and consistently not producing the results that you were hoping for. Every one of our clients has been in that boat. Every one of them. Why is that? The simple answer is because they don't live and breath SEO every day. Google and the other search engines are constantly making and releasing updates to their algorithms in their never-ending quest to provide the best service. So how do you win? You must understand the basics of what you can get from what. Confused?

  • White Hat SEO
White Hat, sometimes called Ethical SEO, refers to the usage of optimization strategies, techniques and tactics that focus on a human audience opposed to search engines and completely follows search engine rules and policies. It is the safest of SEO best practices and algorithm updates normally don't negatively impact any white hat work done. It is the best long-term strategy.
  • Black Hat SEO
Black hat SEO is an exercise in stretching the search engine guidelines. These often unethical tactics don't solve for the searcher and can end in a penalty from search engines. Black hat techniques include keyword stuffing, cloaking, and using private link networks. It can produce great, albeit temporary, results and looks to exploit the algorithms. It is a questionable strategy.
  • Short-term SEO
The only real short-term SEO is black hat. Some SEO experts will use black hat tactics to get their clients quick results, knowing that there's a pending Google update that will kill the advantage. The goal is to capitalize on knowing the loopholes that others don't and to compete where others won't. We don't recommend this. If you need short-term results, use PPC.
  • Long-term SEO
This is what SEO means to Clarity. SEO is a long-term strategy, and when done right keeps building upon itself. Every article, blog, link, etc. that you add continues to build upon everything that's been done before. The goal is to continuously improve and increase all of the elements that ranking factors need to rank your content well.
  • Local SEO
Local SEO is an effective way to market your local business online, as it helps businesses promote their products and services to local customers at the exact time they're looking for them online. This is great for companies that offer a lot of products and services to a specific geographic region, state or city (i.e. Real Estate, Jiffy Lube, Smoke Shops, Specialty stores, etc.).
  • Conversion Rate Optimization (CRO)
Although most companies don't know what it truly means, we'd be remiss if we didn't mention CRO. Here at Clarity, for every hour we spend on SEO, we spend a corresponding hour on CRO. In short, there's no reason to generate thousands of visitors to your site if it's garbage. All your SEO efforts are wasted if your site isn't optimized and ready to educate, offer and convert.
