Sometimes the intermediaries are adding value that the marketplace can subsume, and this would be things like being able to manage necessary inventory, dealing with the logistics, and a lot of the back office components of the fulfillment around shipping, invoicing, customs, duties, and taxes.
This can all be automated through the marketplace, and so this will allow the manufacturer and purchaser to interact in a very direct way, without being a burden to the seller. Just by automating away a lot of what would otherwise be intermediary, companies that would otherwise have to facilitate, so a D2C marketplace can be extremely powerful.
