A Versatile Marketplace Platform to Meet Your Needs

The Clarity marketplace eCommerce platform offering is very robust for many different enterprise marketplace scenarios. This includes C2C, where consumers are selling to other consumers. It can be heavily utilized for a dropship model where businesses are selling to consumers. The marketplace business model can also be very useful for buying groups and franchises, as they can take advantage of this really robust self-service, highly integrated offering that matches the core corporate infrastructure behind the organization. It can be catered to each of the customers within a buying group and for each of the franchises within a franchise system.

Clarity’s Marketplace Platform Enables Unique Features

Enhanced Offerings and Integrations for Clarity’s Buying Group Client

enhanced integration for buying group

One of our clients took advantage of the buying group capabilities of our eCommerce marketplace platform for their offering of rebranded pool supplies and pool equipment. With Clarity’s marketplace platform, they were able to have a B2C and B2B offering from the same infrastructure, centralized database, and set of integrations to back-office systems. Additionally, they have buying-group-specific pricing that comes in from their ERP system that updates regularly from their ERP system sync.

Our eCommerce marketplace has some unique capabilities, specifically around multilingual and multicurrency, and the different tax, payment providers, and shipping providers across different regions and countries. This particular buying group needed our international multilingual and multicurrency capabilities that are off-the-shelf with our eCommerce platform and are built into our international marketplace capabilities with this group buying platform.

Automate Buying Group Operations with Turnkey Projects

Enable Turnkey Operations for Better, Smoother Performance

With these marketplace platform capabilities, the buying group has turnkey operations for their international currency conversions and storage of currency data and conversion rates. Therefore, payments can automatically convert during checkout and other details are shown, such as pricing, different currencies on the catalog, product details, cart checkout, user dashboard, and more. In addition, users can set preferences for language and currency. This really helped to make sure that the client was able to get coverage in the different countries that they offered support in.

Integrate Marketplace Systems for Better Customer Experience

Marketplace Integration Differentiates Specific Pricing Rules

Specifically with the integration side of things, the client has a different pool supplies and pool equipment that are sold at different prices for consumers versus for B2B customers. Depending on the volume purchased within a given time period, and the loyalty or rewards program that the customer qualifies for, they get a different discount. This is a really key facet of capability for this particular client because the end users need to be able to see that if they purchase more within a certain time period, they qualify for rewards and loyalty and continuity-based discounts within the buying group eCommerce marketplace.

Self-Service Is Vital

Keep Product Data Accurate with Self-Service and Approvals

Additionally, It’s crucial that the vendors have the self-service capability to push their product data into the marketplace and keep it up to date. It’s also key that the administrators of group buying platforms be able to audit and review any updates and provide approval before those updates go out. For end users who are purchasing, it is critical that they are able to see accurate data, so that’s why an approval process is necessary before items get published from vendors.

Vendors also have the ability to go into an approved sync list where they can actually sync from their ERP systems, EDI files, or CXML, and push data to the platform when they’re approved. Depending on the vendor’s status, they can have the data that's automatically synced into the platform go into a non-published state and go through a review and approval process before it gets published as an update to the site.

Vendors also have the ability to manage their inventory and pricing data and provide updates to fulfillment of items that are drop-shipped, and deal with intermodal and complex logistics around some of the items on the peer-to-peer marketplace. Many of the vendors will utilize robust intermodal shipping options, including container shipments via the ocean and freight shipments from the port to the shipping destination. Being able to coordinate all of this and get accurate pricing can be one of the biggest challenges of dealing with bulk orders. This is something that we work with via logistics partners, and we were able to integrate robust platform APIs into the checkout process as well as necessary customs, duties, and respective tax forms via the Avalara partnership.

Customized eCommerce Services Mean Better Capabilities

Tailored Marketplace Integrations Result in Powerful Advantages

tailored marketplace integrations result in powerful advantages

All of this is to say that this particular buying group was able to leverage our automation and self-service capabilities for their customers, who could then gain access to their processes that previously were a manual set of steps. They were able to complete these large, multifaceted orders with complexities such as:

  • specific customer pricing
  • particular business rules around rewards, customer rebates, hard and soft stops
  • complex logistics for split payment, split shipment, taxes, and other fulfillment operations

They also deal with permutations of these and are able to accurately price, ship, and fulfill orders, in addition to providing status on the fulfillment and synchronizing this automatically with integrations to back-office systems.

This platform that we delivered is also very powerful because the buying group wanted to expand to a consumer-facing brand that was separate and necessarily the same legal entity. They were able to successfully accomplish this without having to buy an entire other system. They were able to leverage the same investment they made for their standard B2B marketplace software offering but rebrand it through a separate portal with a completely different domain that leverages the same underlying data while still having different pricing and information unique to this brand for B2C marketplace transactions.
